Domaine Papagiannakos

– Attica

Greek wine certainly is not mainstream, but these unfamiliar varieties should be enjoyed as journeys of discovery and a new experience for the senses. You’d probably describe these wines as unnecessary and you know what, that’s fine by me, the unnecessary things are probably the most life affirming.

A true family run winery now in the hands of third generation winemaker Vassilis and his wife Antonia, their eldest daughter and son are also heavily involved ensuring the Papagiannakos lineage is well set to continue. The mission statement is simple –make the best possible wines with the available ingredients ensuring viticulture is as ‘gentle’as possible. Only 20 minutes from Athens the plots on the Attican peninsula are small by design making the most out of varied microclimates.
