Azienda Agricola Il Cascinone

– Piemonte

In the Monferrato hills, you’ll find the Cascinone estate. The eroding hillsides have splayed out over time to produce a region which has a myriad of microclimates, coming from the different aspects and altitudes of the vineyards. All this means that Cascinone have a wide range of varieties planted, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in the warmer sites, sitting alongside Moscato and Sauvignon Blanc in cooler areas. Barbera is the real star however, historically great Barbera is said to come from around the town of Nizza and this is still the case today. The estate continues to receive investment and focus, with work on new varieties such as Slarina which came close to extinction. Carlo Manera is the 3rd generation winemaker and running the estate with a focus on sustainability to preserve what is best from this very special corner of Piemonte.
