Cadus

– Uco Valley

Santi Mayorga is undoubtedly a man of style with an undoubtable style of winemaking. This is a man who can wear a cardigan with the sleeves draped over his shoulders so beautifully that you would swear it’s stitched into his shirt.

You only need 5 minutes of his time to know exactly what he wants to achieve. Schooled under Roberto de La Mota of Mendel fame Santi has grown up watching heavyweight Malbec make viscous waves around the world and yet that is exactly the kind of wine he is adamant he will not make. Since his arrival at Nieto more than 5 years ago Santi has put his heart and soul into making fresh, aromatic styles with intense purity of fruit. He’s certainly not adverse to the use of oak where it will benefit a wine, but this is a much subtler approach than what you might expect to see from Mendoza.

With vineyards taking in the best sites of the Uco valley (Gualtallary, Vista Flores and Agrelo in Lujan de Cuyo) Cadus is producing some classic wines with a modern heart.
